The winds picked up and the fishing fell off, but Tony and Mike Petras pulled out a win, catching their 5th bass at 2:59pm when Mike landed a 3lb largemouth!
Brian Boag and Kevin Miller finished in second place and Jason Beckham who partnered with Kenny Ramsey took third.
Tony won big bass for day 2 with a 4.74lb largemouth.
The father/son duo of Tony and Mike Petras won the Anglers-of-the-Year trophy, averaging a 5 bag limit on the season and a total of 470 points!
Jay Minadeo caught the biggest bass on the season, a 6 1/2 pound largemouth caught at Clearfork on June 2nd.
On a flat calm East Harbor, 13 teams took to the water for the first ever 2-day championship event.
Brian Boag and Kevin Miller finished the day with the lead, and will start the Sunday morning finale with a 1/2 pound lead over second place finishers Mike and Tony Petras.
Jason Beckham, fishing solo, won big bass honors with a 4.14 pound largemouth.
Petras | Petras remain in the lead in the AOY race which is still within reach for Collins | Minadeo and Peiffer | Peiffer.
On a brisk and windy September day, Tony and Mike Petras managed to outpace the field of 14 contenders and retake first place in the anglers-of the year race with a 14.31 lb bag and the big bass on the day of 3.83 pounds.
Second place was claimed by Bob Collins and Jay Minadeo with 11.79 lbs and third place went to brothers Bo and Pat Pieffer with 11.38 pounds.
With only one tournament to go, the AOY race is still close. We hope to see a full field for the first of its kind two day championship event.
Fantastic conditions greeted the 17 teams that took to the waters bordering downtown Cleveland. With light winds out of the south, the old lakefront produced 13 limits.
Brian Boag and Kevin Miller bested the field with a 16.23 lb bag that included 3 smallmouth and 2 largemouth, including Kevin's big bass on the day that weighed in at 4.65 pounds!
Regaining the lead in the AOY race, Jason Aberegg and Austin Wrobel took second with 14.80 pounds, and 3rd place went to Tim and Marty Matus who brought in 14.14 lbs.
What started out as a calm and muggy day on Portage Lakes turned into a rainy one with the constant sound of distant thunder. Greg and Mark Stollings won by a margin of over 3 pounds, weighing in the winning bag, which totaled 17.25 pounds! Greg also scored big bass for the day, a 6.33 lb largemouth.
Second place went to Dave and Vince Yanke with 14.37 lbs while third place was claimed by Jim Anderson and Dennis Prahl with 13.14 lbs.
Tony and Mike Petras gained some ground in the Anglers-of-the-Year race, and now lead by 5 points over Jason Aberegg | Austin Wrobel.
An incredibly calm and humid Sandusky Bay was exactly right for Chris Peer and Mike Pettry who joined forces to fish this tournament and weigh in the winning bag of 14.90 pounds. Mike also won big bass with a 4.27 lb largemouth.
Second place went to Bob Collins and Jay Minadeo with 13.37 lbs and third place to Tony and Mike Petras with 12.58 lbs.
Tony and Mike moved into first place in the Anglers-of-the-Year race, leading by 1 point over Collins | Minadeo.
Winning by a margin of 1/100th of a pound, the team of John McGregor and Josh Beaver edged Bob Collins and Jay Minadeo, 18.17 lbs. to 18.16 lbs. on a rainy, drizzly Sunday.
Third place was taken by Jason Beckham who was fishing alone and caught only 4 bass, but they weighed 12.57 lbs.
Minadeo moved into the lead for big bass on the year with a 6.50 pound largemouth.
And, in the AOY race, Aberegg | Wrobel regained sole possession of first place.
Besting the field with a 17 1/2 pound bag anchored by two 5 pounders caught by each of them, Bob and Jay beat 14 other competitors by a margin of nearly 6 1/4 pounds on a wet and windy Mosquito Creek Lake.
Dave Morris, fishing solo, took second place with 11.17 lbs. while coming in a close third were Jay Cobb and Fred Ramski at 11.11 pounds.
The AOY race tightened. We have a tie between Aberegg | Wrobel and Petras | Petras.
Due to unsafe conditions, the event scheduled for Sandusky Bay was relocated to Berlin Lake in Deerfield, OH. Twelve teams took to the water in high winds and temps that started off chilly, followed by brief periods of rain, before becoming unseasonably warm.
Tony Petras and Mike Pettry (subbing for Mike Petras) caught two 4+ pounders early, which propelled them to first place. Their total bag weight was 11.86 pounds. Tony also won big bass with a 4.64 lb largemouth.
Second place went to AOY leaders Jason Aberegg and Austin Wrobel with 10.65 lbs and third place was taken by Todd Bentley and Bob Corny who weighed in 8.47 lbs.
Jason Aberegg and Austin Wrobel jumped on them early and often at the East Harbor season opener, weighing in the winning bag of 21.91 lbs with a big bass leading kicker of 6.36 lbs.
Second place was claimed by brothers Bo & Pat Peiffer with 19.07 lbs while third place went to Gary Teel and Joe Pettry with 18.35 lbs.
Our locations are all within an hour and a half drive of Cleveland. Each team brings its best five fish (largemouth and/or smallmouth) to a weigh-in, after which we release them for others to enjoy another day!
